Brenetta Blackwell, Esq. & Alfonzo

ALFONZO BLACKWELL
CEO/President/Founder Utopia Records

Alfonzo Blackwell - saxophonist extraordinaire, songwriter, producer and student of several instruments
- has been one of the top players in instrumental music
for the past decade. Currently known as the pioneer of
"Soulful Smooth Jazz"
, he has been consistently at the top of the Billboard charts throughout his career. His productions have been featured in many movies and television shows, including the international television juggernaut, "Baywatch Nights."

Alfonzo began honing his craft while still in elementary school, but formally began his training at the prestigious
High School of the Performing Arts in New York City. He furthered his musical education by attending the Aaron Copeland School of Music at Queens College, Five Towns Music College and has worked with the Jazz Mobile in Harlem, the Count Basie Orchestra and various music camps and organizations throughout the world.

Alfonzo brings a diverse knowledge to this label by having worked on stage and behind the scenes with some of the greatest musicians of the last 15 years. His knowledge on stage was complimented by his knowledge off stage whereby Alfonzo has worked with some of the greatest minds in the business arena today.

Alfonzo also serves as a speaker and board member of the
Artist Empowerment Coalition.
The Artist Empowerment Coalition is a not-for-profit coalition of artists, musicians, songwriters, producers and music lovers, which was formed to:
(I.) Utilize the gift and creation of music, art and culture to make the       world a better place and
(II.) Promote change and reform in the relationships between artists xxxxand the companies that exploit, market and distribute their xxxxcreative work. The AEC was initiated and inspired through the xxxxefforts of artists such as Stevie Wonder, Prince, Roberta Flack         and Chaka Khan along with the law firm of L. Londell McMillan, P.C.

To take one quote from among many that have been said about Alfonzo, James Mtume, his good friend, stated that "Alfonzo's music must be heard." Alfonzo is a rare commodity today-a true innovator. Alfonzo has his finger on the pulsing rhythm of today's R&B, while still hearing the echoes of yesterday's jazz, and from that convergence has focused his vision to be the innovator to bring the people the music of tomorrow.

Alfonzo now brings his unique talent and vision to the helm of Utopia Records. A place where creativity can be infused, nurtured and cultivated.
