2009 has been another defining year for Utopia Records and Contemporary Jazz master, Alfonzo Blackwell. The consummate musician, producer and songwriter has been locked-down in our studios, shedding and evolving musically in order to bring forth a "New Jazz Order" with his exuberant and highly anticipated 8th CD project, titled "Quintet: Portrait of Alfonzo Blackwell". Mr. Blackwell is also working on various artists projects as well.

As the Utopia Records team embarks on the new year 2010, the future of contemporary jazz music is on its way to breakout of its shell and emerge as one of the greatest art forms in modern history. Leading this historic and monumental music renaissance is our very own, label artist and jazz legend Alfonzo Blackwell. Over the past 15 years, his trademark of "Rhythm & Cool" swing has ushered in fresh and exciting demands for great, in-the-pocket jazz grooves around the world.

Alfonzo Blackwell's innovative and groundbreaking approach to music has been the winning formula that keeps changing and morphing into progressive and soulful recordings that stamp imprints in the history of modern music, left for generations to groove to and enjoy. An international tour is currently being scheduled in support of his forth coming release, which will be kicked off in South Africa.

2010 will be the most monumental year-to-date for Utopia Records and our Artist roster. We are very pleased and excited about all the projects that are set for release in the new year. With our passion for innovative and original contemporary soul & jazz music, we will present to our loyal audience new music that is honest to the core, without any artistic sacrifice.
